Tragedy Strikes -Part Two

The girls were dreading the visit of  their Aunt Sally. Aunt Sally was the type of aunt who spoiled you, and was really......what's  the word? Well, she was the type of aunt the girls weren't particularly fond of.

Aunt Sally came in the door exclaiming about how poor her little nieces were. She handed them each a large gift bag, and told them to open them up. 

The girls did as their aunt told them. Inside was an expensive stuffed animal, from the mall. Lindsey and McKenna thanked Aunt Sally, as best as they could, and Aunt Sally left to go to Saige's room.

Aunt Sally quietly stepped into Saige's room, and gently handed her a similar stuffed animal, unwrapped. She looked into Saige's eyes with a worried look, and left the room.

   Soon the next day came, and one of their friends, Alice came to visit. She brought them each a cute stuffed animal. She gave Lindsey a platypus, and McKenna a dolphin.

Alice went to Saige's room, and gave her her stuffed animal, a polar bear. Alice told Saige that she hoped she felt better soon.

 The next morning came and Lindsey and McKenna were going to leave the hospital today. Saige, though, was going to have to stay longer. The doctors said that she was recovering well, but they wanted to run more tests.

Lindsey and McKenna were leaving just after breakfast. Lindsey had a muffin, an orange, a donut, and hot chocolate. McKenna had a muffin, a cheesecake thing, and hot chocolate. The girls were excited because they could finally leave.

 Finally, Mom got there, and the girls made their way to the door excitedly. Mom stopped in to check on Saige. Saige felt very sad, as she knew her sisters could leave that day.

Later that day a nurse came and told Saige she could get out of bed. That made Saige happier.

The nurse pushed Saige around for awhile, and Saige finally got to see more than the bland hospital room. After they went back to the room, the nurse told Saige that she would be able to spend more time out of bed tomorrow.

The next day Saige ate breakfast, her first time eating solid food since the accident.

    The next few days passed quickly. Saige was able to spend a lot of time in her wheelchair, looking around. She ate more food, and actually almost had fun. Finally it was the day before she was leaving.

Saige spent her last day being prepared to leave. The doctors were instructing her on what to do at home. 

The day Saige left, her mom brought her a bright yellow dress, and Saige wheeled herself to the door.

Saige spent ten days in the hospital. Mckenna and Lindsey spent four days in the hospital. Each girl could have easily spent more. Their injuries, not to severe, healed quickly.

Soon each of them was able to resume normal life, they went back to the things they did before, but each girl had been scared by this tragic accident. This wasn't anything that they would forget.
